Asked Questions

How Long Are Therapy Sessions?

Sessions are scheduled based on client needs and are typically either 30 or 60 minutes long. They usually occur once per week and are scheduled for the same time every week (ie: 10am on Thursdays). A 60 minute session consists of 50 minutes of direct contact and 10 minutes for preparation and documentation. A 30 minute session consists of 25 minutes of direct contact and 5 minutes for preparation and documentation.

Can I Observe Therapy Sessions?

Parents are welcome to observe therapy sessions, either periodically by briefly accompanying children into the therapy room or by attending the entire session if desired.

Do You Provide Written Reports of My Child's Progress?

Written progress reports are generated upon parent request, but at least bi-annually, and are charged for at our hourly rate. Session progress can also be discussed during the last 5-10 minutes in order to understand current objectives and home program ideas.

My Child Had an Evaluation Somewhere Else; Does FTS Accept Outside Evaluations?

This will depend on the payer. Most medical evaluations are considered current 6 months. We typically can accept evaluations from other facilities if they are recent. We require a copy of the evaluation before we schedule to have it reviewed by our therapists to ensure the report is thorough and goals are clear.

What Insurance and/or Payments Do You Accept?

Currently, we are contracted with Kaiser (via Catalight) and Early Intervention through Regional Center. For private pay, we accept cash, check, or payment through Square. We can also provide a superbill for services rendered, which you may submit to your insurance company to request reimbursement. Because coverage and reimbursement policies vary by insurance provider and plan, we recommend contacting your insurance company in advance to confirm whether these services are covered and eligible for reimbursement.

Do You Provide Therapy Services Through Schools or School Districts?

Yes, we provide educationally necessary therapy services for students referred by charter schools and school districts. These services are arranged directly through the school or district, and referrals must come from them. If your child is eligible for school-based therapy, your school or district will coordinate the referral process. Please note that families cannot independently select or transfer school-based therapy services to our clinic; participation is determined by the school or district’s referral and agreement. Some students from charter schools or through settlement agreements may receive services at our clinic as part of their educational plan.

Do You Have a Waiting List? How Long Does It Take to Get an Appointment?

We often experience a high demand for after-school appointments, therefore we may have a waiting list for appointments after 2:30pm. For those needing evaluations, or who can schedule morning therapy sessions, it is usually possible to be scheduled sooner.

What if We Have to Miss a Session?

We understand that sometimes life happens! If your child must miss their session due to illness or other emergencies please call the office at least 24 hours in advance so that we can offer that time to another child for that week. Also, please make every effort to make up missed appointments within the same week. Consistency is the key to success!
